Nightmares of the ReaperNightmares of the Reaper</b>
In the deepest crevices of my mind lurk my nightmares.
They aren't truly nightmares, but long-blocked memories. Memories I cannot even now understand--unless I want them to drive me mad. I've seen so much more than any Seeker my age, most of which while I was a cub. It was by… THEIR… hands that I've lost so much. Everyone I've ever known has been taken from me, and yet I remain--a shadowed testament to the whims of Fate.
My parents… I don't remember them… not that well. I was only a year or two old when I was taken from them. When I saw… No. Please! Don't make me remember!
A male Seeker, his armor shining like fire, stood outside of a cave that overlooked a foggy valley. He'd always liked this place, how the morning fog in the valley always looked like the clouds he flew over. Flying always gave him peace, and the illusion o
Shadow of the Guardian, Part 8Darkness. It was so dark… he thought he'd seen as black as dark could get, but this… this wasn't the absence of light. This was where light couldn't even exist. He raised his hand in front of his face and tried to see it, but he ended up startling himself when the palm of his hand touched the tip of his nose--and he still couldn't see it. He lowered his hand, spinning in place as he tried to distinguish left from right, up from down, and finally gave up in that respect. He had the odd feeling that he'd been in this place once before--and it wasn't a feeling he liked.
A thunderbolt cracked in front of him, blinding him, before more thunderbolts began flying around him. He tried to shield his optics with one arm or to move out of range, but he suddenly found himself rooted to the spot and unable to move. Squinting against the glare of the thunderbolts, he could barely distinguish a shadow in front of him--one
Shadow of the Guardian, Part 7Sheba was lying down on her bed, but was hardly relaxing. After what she'd learned from the Autobots earlier, intentional or not, she was getting more and more disturbed about the Hunter. Something really wasn't adding up, and she was getting really mad trying to figure out exactly what was wrong. The fact that Andromeda continued to interfere with her Guardianship over Starscream was really annoying her too. This has to stop, she realized. I can't let this continue. This absolutely has to stop.
Starscream entered her quarters, sensing… something… through their telepathic link. "Sheba? What is it?" He asked curiously.
"I'm just thinking about the Hunter," Sheba replied, jumping off of her bed and rubbing her head against Starscream's hand. She was so preoccupied, she couldn't purr when Starscream began petting her. "She's really annoying me.
Shadow of the Guardian, Part 6Sheba was pacing around in her room, trying to sort out what had been going on lately. Everything that had gone wrong recently was because of the Hunter. In fact, she no longer felt safe within the Decepticon base, not after the Hunter had found her quarters. There are things Megatron refuses to tell me about that Hunter, she thought to herself. Maybe if I ask Perceptor himself, I can figure out what he knows. But how can I…?
She circled around a few more times before she grinned. "Of course!" She laughed. "It's been a while since I last infiltrated the Autobot base. I'll just go create a bit more havoc in there." She silently added, and figure out what Perceptor knows and Megatron refuses to tell me.
Since Sheba was still very wary of the Hunter possibly being at the Autobot base, she teleported herself to the woods outside of the base to do a little recon
Shadow of the Guardian, Part 5When Andromeda opened her optics, she found herself hovering just a few feet above the waves of an ocean. She found it rather peaceful, but she focused more on what lurked within the waters--then it started looking more ominous than anything. She folded her wings in towards her body and dived, letting the weight of her body pull her under. She cast Mini on herself as a precaution, trying to prevent any Decepticon sensors from picking her up, and suddenly wished that she had Sheba's Vanish spell--the thought disappeared very quickly.
She soon began to notice something… off… about the surface almost directly below her. There was clearly something there that was more metallic than stone, although it was hard to tell since she was still a fair distance above it. As she dived deeper and deeper, she found that it was a HUGE ship--a spaceship or starship, most likely--regardless of her altered perception or not. They didn't
Shadow of the Guardian, Part 4Shockwave approached the Space Bridge as it opened its doors and Megatron, the Cassetticons, and Soundwave exited--Megatron appeared quite solemn, to put it mildly. "Hail, Lord Megatron!" Shockwave greeted, pounding the left side of his chest-plate with his right fist, forearm parallel to the ground. Megatron returned the salute, but remained silent. "What bothers you? It's rare I've seen you in such a mood."
"Someone is after Sheba," Megatron stated with no pretense, his voice flat and optics narrowed.
Shockwave visibly stiffened and his Cyclops-like optic glowed pure white instead of its usual yellow. Incapable of showing facial expressions, he was forced to rely on body language to convey his emotions whenever he felt the rare need to do so. The fact was, his usual restraint in revealing his emotions was temporarily subverted by the shock of such a statement. "Now that she's full-grown?
Shadow of the Guardian, Part 3Sheba looked around the instant she and Starscream shook off the last of the Teleport spell and her wings flared. She could smell the Mako energy in the air, and it was concentrated the most on the Autobots and the Constructicons themselves. "Mako," she hissed, her fur bristling. "Someone used Materia around here."
"It wasn't the Autobots, I'm certain of that, and none of us have Materia," Megatron stated, noting with satisfaction that the Autobots didn't come any closer, now that Sheba and Starscream both had appeared.
Sheba cast Life on the Constructicons, who were slow in getting back up and looking quite the worse for wear. "Alright," she snarled, staring down the Autobots with her wings flared, head down, and shoulders up. "WHO DID THIS?!"
A cold laugh echoed across the battlefield at Sheba's demand, but nobody could determine the origin. Ravage smelled an odd scent in the air, coming from the tower. He s
Shadow of the Guardian, Part 2An echo of a lupine howl snapped Megatron awake and he sat bolt-upright with a gasp. It took him a few seconds to re-orient himself to his surroundings, reminding himself that he was within his own quarters, on Earth, and not on Cybertron's surface outside of the Decepticon headquarters. He rubbed his forehead with one hand, grimacing as the warning echoed in his mind. Curse that Organic Transformer. He was right, he thought, getting up and pacing around his quarters a bit in order to clear his head.
Finally, after he'd regained some sense of peace, he understood what he had to do. Something he hadn't done in a while, ever since Sheba had appeared on Earth. He relaxed, reached out with his mind, and telepathically contacted someone. A mutual understanding passed between himself and this separate mind, then Megatron withdrew from the contact. He turned and walked out of his quarter
To depression, for creating days without endWake up to the realization that you've been awake
for seconds, minutes, hours.
You've been awake in this warm, dark room
and you don't know how long it's been
but now you're conscious
and it starts again--
the pain, strong and steady, in your chest.
You gain consciousness in this too warm morning
and your thoughts whir in endless loops
because it's either that or face the weight in your chest.
Light breaks though the window, soft and unwelcome
but you take it as a reluctant gift--
a new distraction from the feelings awake in your chest.
Awake, but not conscious.
So you think yourself in circles a little while longer
waiting for those quiet pains
(the constant reminder)
to gain consciousness.
